Geopolitics & its Discontents (Podcast) feat. Robert Kaplan and Gerry Kearns

Our second Accidental Geographer PodcastGeopolitics and its Discontents, is out now! Featuring special guest Robert Kaplan, a world renowned author and journalist named one of the world’s “top 100 global thinkers” by Foreign Policy Magazine and author of ‘The Revenge of Geography: What the map tells us about coming conflicts and the battle against fate.’ In the past, Mr. Kaplan was the Chief Geopolitical Analyst at STRATFOR, the world’s largest private intelligence agency and has served at the behest of the United States Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, as apart of the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board. He is currently a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and a contributing editor at The Atlantic.

The Podcast will also feature Gerry Kearns, professor of Geography at Maynooth University in the Republic of Ireland. Professor Kearns work “Geopolitics and Empire: the Legacy of Halford Mackinder,” won the Murchison Award from the Royal Geographical Society. You can see a full list of his publications here.
